Free pattern mouse

A few weeks ago I was approached by a new customer if I wanted to make a mouse for her cat. No problem of course! The nice thing about this crochet project is that it is ready in no time and you don’t need much yarn at all! Ideal for using up leftovers😉

Materials

  • Yarn: I used Scheepjes Catona in the following colors:
    • Bridal White 105                                      6 grams
    • Bluebell 173                                      10 grams
    • Jet black 110                                                eyes/nose
  • Crochethook: I used my 2 mm hook.
  • Pair of scissors and needle
  • Stuffing material/fiberfill

Fasten off blue and continue with white. Close the round with a sl.st. in the next stitch and cut off the thread. Then attach the white thread but do this 2 stitches before the sl.st. you just crocheted. On round 14 you crochet 36 sc but skip the stitch that is diagonally below the sl.st.

This way you ensure that the color change is as little visible as possible. If you notice you have less than 36 sts, then just inc. in the last stitch.

You can make all color changes in the pattern this way.

Close the round by working all single crochets together and neatly hide the threads.

Tail
We are going to braid the tail. Cut some long strands of both colors. I cut off two blue and 1 white.

Pass the crochet hook through a stitch in the middle of the back of the mouse (see photo below). Place the center of your loose threads on your crochet hook.

Tie a knot at the end of the body to secure the threads.

Braid the strands until you reach the desired length and tie a knot at the end.

With black thread you can make a nose and eyes on the mouse. For the eyes I looped the black thread around 1 stitch a number of times with 5 stitches gap in between. I did this in the 10th round.

See for yourself how you like this. I looped the thread around 2 stitches for the nose so that it is a bit larger.

Ears
Use your white thread.

Finish with a sl.st. and leave a long thread for attachment. Attach the ears in round 15, behind thee yes. See the picture below for clarification.

The mouse is now ready! Hopefully this crochet pattern was useful to you and it was described clearly enough😊 Have fun with the mouse!
